In many South Asian homes there is a bottle of oil on the kitchen shelf. On Sundays someone warms a little, lays down a towel, and takes their time. That’s maalish.
Maalish was born from that gesture, in Montreal. We make one thing: a traditional massage oil, the way it was made at home.
How we make it
Cold-pressed mustard seed oil, slowly warmed with garlic and whole spices: ajwain, clove, asafoetida. We strain it, then bottle it by hand, in small batches, in amber glass that protects the oil from light.
Why small batches
Because that’s how it’s made at home. One batch at a time, and every bottle carries its batch number.
Who it’s for
For those who grew up with this scent and were looking for it here. And for those discovering it: a simple moment at home, for yourself or for someone you love.
Sundays, warm oil, and nobody in a hurry.
